TODA is a Tanzania registered, non-profit making membership association. A a member of the

Tanzania Sailing Association (TSAA) and for all intent and purposes operates under the umbrella of the TSAA Constitution.

 

TODA is the National Authority of this class association, recognized

by TSA, IODA, ISAF and National Sports Council.

The Objectives of TODA are:
 

To form a collective Optimist Dinghy Class Membership Association as representation of all member class sailing clubs and sailing individuals in Tanzania, for the purposes of:

 

a. To administer the Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Class in accordance with TSA, ISAF and IODA requirements, and to see that these class rules together with the National Constitution of TSA, are observed and upheld.

 

b. To develop, promote, organize, co-ordinate, administer, fund raise and represent youth development sailing in this class in the whole nation.

 

c. To establish the conditions and rules for international, national and inter-club events in this class, and the annual Optimist National Championships, determine the venue, selection procedures, fund raising, organization and adjudication of these events.

 

d. To establish conditions and rules for the qualifying selection events to select national members/team(s) to participate and represent TODA in the annual Africans, Worlds Optimist Championships and others.

 

e. To secure as appropriate National Sports Council approval of selected members who will represent TODA and Tanzania internationally, so that they can be recognized for TODA and national colours.

 

f. To devise and execute programs to promote the sport and increase the number and capacity of optimist sailors, particularly development members and those nationals of disadvantaged backgrounds.
