2025 Optimist African Championship

The International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) has awarded the hosting of the
2025 Optimist African Championship
to Tanzania Optimist Dinghy Association (TODA) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Dar es Salaam Yacht Club (DYC), which will serve as the official sailing venue.
Accommodation for all participants will be provided at the nearby Golden Tulip Hotel.
Scheduled for 2 – 9 August 2025, the championship will bring together the top youth sailors from across Africa and around the world. As an open event, all IODA member countries are invited to participate, making this a truly international celebration of youth sailing and sportsmanship.
The Dar es Salaam Yacht Club, being on the beautiful coastline of the Indian Ocean, the 2025 Championship will deliver exciting sailing conditions, and a warm, inclusive environment, is known for its active sailing conditions and superb facilities.
The Golden Tulip Hotel, just minutes from the yacht club, will provide comfortable and convenient lodging for all teams, officials, and support staff, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable championship experience from start to finish.
Beyond the competition, participants will have the chance to explore the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania, experience warm local hospitality, and enjoy the vibrant, beachside atmosphere of
Dar es Salaam.
